Why Subscriptions?

Because flowers should be an everyday luxury. Weekly flowers instead of one-off arrangements mean you can discover and enjoy the constant rotation of what’s in-season. The idea was to create something that you can rely on with both quality and price, whilst also supporting a local supply chain.

Why Local?

For too long flowers have been overpriced with trendy imported flowers flooding the market all year round. Vivaldi Flora seeks to bring to you an appreciation of local provenance. Local flowers are just so much better. Better for your health, the environment and local economies.

What about Imported Flowers?

Currently Australia has no country of origin labelling so you could be buying imported natives! Imported flowers have all sorts of chemical processing when they are fumigated by carcinogenic chemicals and dipped in round up on import. The transportation resources, mass packaging and middlemen are bad for people and the environment. Imported flowers aren’t fresh either and have often been in transit for 7 days before they reach their final customer. So when you buy local, you buy the most fresh, healthy and sustainable option.

We cut your flowers on your behalf at our local farmers. That means you receive your flowers within hours of being harvested instead of up to a week later. Traditionally flowers go from a farm, to a market and then finally on to a florist which means 3-4 days wait at every stop plus travel time, all the while somebody marks up your flowers each stage of the cycle. At Vivaldi Flora, your flowers are cut on the morning they are delivered and we deliver an En Masse style arrangement which means an abundance of the single stem variety in season that week. Because we deliver direct to you from our farms, you will always receive the the freshest flowers and superb value. Our local supply chain are mostly natural & organic flower growers around Bilpin, Mt Tomah, Mt Wilson and Mt Irvine in the Blue Mountains. Most of our growers have generations of experience and have worked in landmark horticulturalist roles themselves such as at the Mt Tomah Botanic Gardens. Just over one hour from Sydney’s CBD and nestled on the fringe of World Heritage Listed Wollemi Park, the land is some of the most fertile volcanic basalt caps remaining in Australia.

I want to know about Vivaldi Flora flowers!

On the border of the Wollemi Park, Mt Tomah, Mt Wilson & Mt Irvine are some of the last remaining basalt caps in the world. These basalt caps eroded over time into the rich volcanic soil recognised by its red pigment containing high levels of phosphate. These opulent basalt soils provide the perfect growing base for almost any species of flora in the world! The lower Bilpin climate harbours perfectly consistent conditions without frost for some of the most exciting varieties in the calendar. Expect everything from snapdragons, delphinium, sweet-pea and hydrangea to exotic Burmese Azalea and the every-prized peony.

What makes your local area the best?

Local means fresh, local means quality and local means value. We only sell what is in season so our subscribers enjoy a true flower calendar. If it is not in season or not up to scratch, we don’t sell it. That means very little waste as well as the best quality product for you! The aded bonus of cultivating flowers directly from farm to customer means you do not pay for all the markups along the way, you get quality and abundance. Importantly, our growers specialise in a particular flower and spend all year cultivating their land to produce the best possible version of that product. Each flower blooms for just a few short weeks, this is a delightfully sustainable way to hero our growers and honour their stunning blooms they spend the entire year cultivating.

What do local flowers mean?

Every week you will receive a beautifully curated bunch of seasonal blooms. Handpicked, hand-packed into eco-friendly packaging. Each bunch of fresh flowers is dressed up in signature Vivaldi Flora eco-friendly packaging for safe transportation. We’re also working on a natural preservative option to keep your flowers going. More on that soon!

What will I get if I subscribe?

Local Flowers are important for your health, for the environment and for the local industry. Too long have imported flowers flooded the market which meant many flower growers could no longer operate. Australia is bolstered by agriculture and flowers are an everyday item, so with your help, let’s grow this industry back to where it should be all whilst supporting businesses that are better for the environment and your health!

Why are local flowers important?

Vivaldi Flora founder & owner Fiona Germaine is pioneering a concept of Agri-Wellness. At the heart of this idea is the agriculture- honest produce operations- and Wellness, what’s good for you should also encompass fresh flowers. Flowers can enrich your life physically and mentally as a form of self-care and a regular esteemed act. Fiona champions local, natural, regenerative flowers & processes to share Mother Nature’s little luxuries with you. Flowers should be fresh, everyday luxuries that we can all enjoy, rather than expensive & chemically processed. Flora is a foundation of ecosystems and we should enjoy all the wonderfully restorative produce nature has to offer.

What is Flower Wellness?

Yes, Vases, gardening and florist tools are about to go live before Christmas! We are also pseudo-alchemists! A little bit of garden-apothecary inspiration is leading us down the path to launch our very own botanical body & home products soon. Natural and 100% plant-based, our promise will remain: no nasties, regenerative, restorative for both earth and body alike, start to finish.

Do you have other Products?

No! We prefer to focus on offering fresh produce, bridging the gap between grower and customer. The extravagant arrangements we will leave to our fellow floral comrades. Whilst some of us are trained in floristry, we have horticulturalists, farm-hands and stylists to bring to you a nerdy mix of precise and quality produce curated into an inspiring weekly bunch dressed up in a striking package, touched by hand at every point in the process.

Are you a Florist?

Fiona Germaine created Vivaldi Flora as a side project while pregnant during the 2020 Pandemic when her Italian studio of self-owned fashion label was paused due to COVID-19. Fiona’s background in luxury kept her passion for flora constant. Living in Bilpin, she began to notice many flower growers and yet no outlet for the product direct to the customer.

Fiona worked the business ground up starting with her famous show-stopping flower cart at The Grumpy Baker. Soon, Hawkesbury locals were regular customers and the demand grew for fresh flowers.  Now, it’s the premier flower business in the Hawkesbury, with a twist. Fiona works exclusively supporting local growers and employing local know-how to improve her business projects. From expert horticulturalists with years of experience at Mt Tomah Botanic Gardens through to enthusiastic farm-hands; Vivaldi Flora has a wealth of local knowledge and commitment.

Where did Vivaldi Flora come from?

Vivaldi, for the championing of seasonal produce. Flora, for the natural bounty our earth provides. The Italian language is a nod to founder, Fiona Germaine’s Italian passion and career in Fashion, Vivaldi is a hint at her opulent taste and flora grounds the slightly scientific horticultural direction in our local ecosystem of Australia.

Why Vivaldi Flora?

Fiona Germaine is an international fashion designer. Pandemic aside, she is normally travelling to Italy 3 months of the year to work on her luxury label, Allegra Lombardi as featured in Vogue Italia, Vogue Brasil & Vogue China. Her entrepreneurial projects also include launching The Sydney Harbour Concours d’Elegance as seen on National Nine News as well as philanthropic work in her local community, most recently with the 2021 floods where she received a personal thanks from then Premier, Gladys Berejiklian. Fiona is completely over the top when it comes to style and only knows Maximalism. She loves all things with a glamorous intrigue including her loves of sport-athletics, golf, horseriding and sailing whilst still keep a lid on her toddler!
